“To be sure, the top-down control of the General Court by its leaders has frustrated political activists right and left seemingly forever. DiZoglio’s narrative is in service of her effort to compel greater legislative responsiveness to anti-establishment activists. In essence, she has turned the Office of the State Auditor—an office that literally was created and designed by the General Court to help legislators to keep tabs on executive departments—into a taxpayer-financed anti-establishment attack dog. In the absence of an articulated counterargument, she has weaponized voter cynicism and convinced frustrated political activists on the far right and left to go along with what amounts to a campaign of constitutional vandalism.”
